Our Story
John and Catherine, owners and operators of Big Moon Farm,
both have strong ties to agriculture and farming.
John has dedicated his career to sustaining and promoting
agriculture. John's undergraduate and master's level graduate
training at Clemson University focused on animal and plant
science and agricultural education. Having served as a Clemson
County Extension agent in Allendale, Kershaw, Richland,
Lexington and Aiken counties over the past 25+ years, he has
worked with numerous farmers to offer education, support, and
training.
Though Catherine's career has not focused on agriculture, she
has been around farming and gardening since she was a child.
Her grandfather farmed in North Carolina and Florida and she
spent some of her early years watching Papa on his tractor. As
a child, her family had a large vegetable and fruit garden every
summer.
John and Catherine are excited about the opportunities that Big
Moon Farm offers. Connecting people directly with the source
and production of their food will hopefully create a greater
appreciation of the farm-to-table concept.
Big Moon Farm offers a wide variety of fresh, seasonal produce
(vegetables, fruits, pecans), farm raised-grass and grain fed
beef, and pastured holiday turkeys.
